Thanks Janet - great posting. I think you've described nearly all the characteristics that lend itself not just to a well-rounded work life, but a well-rounded LIFE. I think everyone likes to think of themselves as working towards each of these on a daily basis, but personally I need to always take a moment and pause, and consider what might be missing at any given moment. Am I taking myself too seriously? Am I not reaching out for help or mentorship? Am I mentoring anyone? Usually, whatever is missing is exactly what I need.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, Janet. You're a gem!

I have to say that as this year winds down and a new one awaits, it is such a good idea to remember what we are thankful for and to take a moment to figure out what is important to us. Thank you Janet for starting my morning thinking about all you have mentioned. I couldn't agree more with what you have said. I guess if I would add anything it is that we should carve out time for ourselves. In this business we all work so hard that we need find some balance. Whether the time we set aside for ourselves is for exercise mentioned above or just a quiet cup of coffee, some time to listen to music, catch up with friends, etc. we need to remember that all work and no play really does make Jack dull boy (or Jacki a dull girl). At the end of the day if all we have done is worked ourselves in to a frazzle, we end up giving those around us less because we have allowed ourselves to be less than whole. My advice is to forget the line "You complete me" and just maybe this year find a way to complete ourselves.
